Just wondering, are TN panels really that crap? whats so bad about them?

I've had 3 TFT screens:

(P-MVA) 19" Viewsonic VP930b (1280x1024)
(S-PVA) 24" DELL 2407WFPB REV A04 (1920x1080)
(A-MVA) 24" Nec 24WMGX3 (1920x1200)

Would it be a big mistake switching to a Iiyama ProLite B2712HDS 27" (TN Panel) ?

Thoughts . . . . .

You will be sacrificing viewing angles, contrast and colour reproduction for a larger screen and higher responsiveness. Really there is no reason for you to think about the technicalities - what's important is that you can experience it for yourself and see what you make of it. You will never know until you try - and if you aren't happy with the Iiyama, which I hope you will be, you can send it back under DSR. If you are happy with the responsiveness of your existing panels I would advise you also consider waiting for the BenQ EW2730V (hopefully released in the coming months). Unless you are really itching to try something entirely different.

Aye the viewing angles woudn't be a problem as I'm always directly in front of the screen.

As for contrast and colour, I think I would have to see for myself. Like you said with DSR it maybe worth having a look, I'll probally wait a few months see what screens are coming out for this year.

Something to think about anyway.

Thanks.
