Hi guys I have the monitor in the title and my question is, can I use a DVI to HDMI adaptor and plug my ps3 or use a blu-ray drive to watch high definition things on it? I can't find out whether it can handle 1080p or not.. obviously a DVI to HDMI adaptor would work but would it give me true HD?

nope it wouldn't

True HD: 1920 x 1080.
Max resolution of your monitor: 1680 x 1050.

Sorry mate :(

However downscaled HD looks just fine on your excellent monitor

The 1080p video image should get downscaled to 1680 x 945, or 945p if you will.

The NEC 20WGX2 can handle 1080p, however ToastyX from Hardforum tested it out and said that the display stretches any 1080p content and it doesn't scale correctly even when set to DVI-HD mode. I haven't tested it with 1080p, just 720p and 1080i which are scaled correctly, so take the above info with a grain of salt. Although ToastyX is pretty much right 100% of the time.

Even still, 720p looks gorgeous on this monitor.

Ok cheers for that Armatoste. Just one other thing, at the moment i'm using a DVI cable from graphics card to the monitor. I am planning to get a blu-ray drive - as the monitor doesn't have any HDMI inputs would i have to plug a DVI to HDMI converter into the monitor then use a HDMI to DVI lead to connect it to the video card?

Oh yeah, you're right sid. Forget the European model isin't HDCP compliant.

Your only choice now is using something like HDFury or some kind of vga adapter.
