Hey guys, just wanted to know what everyone thought of the company NEC?

To me their products look good and seem very solid. Are they a popular company and well known for their LCD Monitors/Tvs?

Opps sorry wrong forums :( , If its not to much trouble could a moderator move this thread to the Monitors Forum, thanks. Sorry.

you would be better off asking in the monitor section.

but they make nice monitors, [ i had a few in the crt days ]

Thanks for the replys. Most of their screens seem to be a black sand then a silver frame. Do you know if they do any as black stand and black frame?

Im deciding on either getting a 24inch screen or a really nice, high quality 20inch screen.

also their support and help with warranties is excellent! :)

They overnighted me a monitor, to replace one that had a bit of backlight bleed, without any fuss and were very friendly.

what settings do you guys use on your screens? brightness contrast etc

My Spyder2 calibrated settings are sRGB colour (spyder has broken so can't greyscale calibrate until RMA goes through), the brightness is 9.3%, contrast 100%, advanced DV is off and DV mode is 'Standard'. Sharpness should be set down to 8.3% from the default.

Well the NEC uses a S-IPS panel, which I find superior than TN panels (which a lot of the cheaper monitors use) for colour reproduction and viewing angles.

I had a Dell 2007WFP which uses a similar S-IPS panel to the NEC but I found the viewing angles weren't as good, plus the Dells have a a non-reflective coating which looks 'grainy' to me; I prefer the 'glossy' clear look that the NEC has, even though it meant I had to make sure there were no lights pointing at it.
