neccessary to upgrade or not

Hi guys, at the moment I am getting a bit miffed with all these new cards making my old GTS here look a bit pale in comparison. It's not just the benchmarks that tell me this, I've also seen it in games I play for a while now - whether that be COD4, crysis, source games etc.

Obviously I don't want to spend more than I have to (being a tight bugger ) but if it calls for it then I guess an exception can be made

So I'm looking at these cards:

PowerColor ATI Radeon HD 3870 XT Extreme 5 £135.11 (seems to perform reasonably well in most games, and is fantastic for watching high def movies - also isn't going to bother me if turns quickly obsolete because it is so cheap.)

PNY GeForce 8800 GT 512MB £152.74 (Good performer for the money and very overclockable - also won't bother me if it gets thrashed by the new nvidia 9800 cards because of its price.)

Here comes the biggies:

HIS ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 1024MB £276.11 (Brilliant performer probably will handle most things for 9 months and serve me good use - you get what you pay for.)

EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB £199.74 (Evga chosen for their step up option and hearing good things. GTS edges over the GTX quite a bit in some games and is cheaper - not sure how future proof with new nvidia cards round the corner.)

So there you have it, those are my choices please feel free to suggest better manufacturers than the ones I have listed.

No. Wait until the next generation; all but one of the cards listed (3870X2) are of comparable power to your current one.
