can someone recommend me a 140mm intake case fan (case is a lian li PC-Q08 with 4 hdd, i7 2600k@ stock and a 6950)

would prefer a quiet fan, ideally around or below the £15 mark

Prolima Tech Vortex 140mm - 1000rpm - 87CFM = £11.22, using x3 Blue but you can get Red one's and they do seem to shift a lot of Air, through my BI GTS 420 Triple fan rad. :)

can you compare it to anything?
also remember manufactures specs are never right so dont buy into this.

the thermalright ty-140 or thermalright x-silent 140 are excellent fans while being quiet source: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/display/140mm-fan-roundup_12.html#sect0

That seems to good to be true tbh.

To Durral, whys that?

If l put my hand in front of the Rad also damping a couple of fingers with water you can feel the Airflow better. The Air Flow is Strong coming through the Fins, the fan might not put out a Airflow Of 87 CFM, but you can sharp tell if the Airflow is weak or strong, its not rockit science.

Fair enough you have a review including the Thermalright Fans, if people didn't try different fans different products, look at the H50 people said that would be carp but l'v'd used one with Vipers and it cooled my 920-4'2GHz and it never went over 70'c gaming , etc. As if theres not a review about them, you sharp know if they are carp. l'v never been afraid of trying something different new, ie > fans for one.

Well the only thing l can give you at this moment is the idle temps between a BI GTS 360[30mm thick] Rad 120mm fans > x3 Vipers PWM fans 600 > 1950rpm Push / x3 Xilence fans 1300rpm > Pull, as l have just upgraded to the BI GTS 420[30mm thick] Rad Triple 140mm Fan > 1000rpm. At this moment in my PC room Ambient Temp is 22.5'c -

Idle Temps -

BI GTS 360[30mm thick] Rad 120mm fans > x3 Vipers PWM fans 600 > 1950rpm Push / x3 Xilence fans 1300rpm > Pull - core temps would be 32'c > 36'c +/- 1'c

BI GTS 420[30mm thick] Rad Triple 140mm Fans x3 Prolima Tech Vortex 140mm > 1000rpm Push, core temps are 30'c > 34'c +/- 1'c

So thats roughly a 2'c improvement on idle temps, also my 470 temps have dropped roughly the same 2'C, l'll run P95 for a hour to see how my upgarde fares against the 360 and get back to yous as l still have the 360 P95 results 1 hour run.

Note - Fan 4 is not the rpm reading for the x3 Xilence fans.

I'd go with silverstone air penetrators as intakes and scythe slipstreams as exhausts

I didn't notice any ticking truth be told at 12 or 7v. The only time a ticking could be heard was when I moved the fan. That said I've only had the fan half a day and it may become more apparent after a bit more use. I'll keep you posted.
