Need 2 * slim 4890s to replace ones just bought

Hey all,
I bought two of the OC value 4890 cards but after inspection there is no way to fit them to the 2 PCIe16 slots. The fans on them are HUGE .
My old 8800GTs fit fine, as well (just about) my SB xfi PCI card.

Looking for 2*4890s or something as powerful. I don't mind spending more money, maybe £150/card at the max. Want to go for crossfrire/sli as I paid extra for a 16x16x motherboard + CPU (i7 920 OC bundle). I am a bit down that I will be loosing physx from Nvidia, but as I've just bought a new 24" monitor I want to make the most of that.

Any recommendations from people knowing from experience which 4890s are more on the slim side?

Its a bit odd that you have too little space to do this, you could water cool it to save on the space

What motherboard do you have? I would have thought that the 4890s would be double slot coolers, and most motherboards that can run x16 x16 will have at least double spacing between the slots.

Thought it was only the sapphire vapor-x ones that had a bigger fan?

Go with 2x 5770 tbh

get a pair of 5770s

other than that go with a reference cooler 4890 to ensure it is definatly dual slot

The ones tested in this report look to be the right size.
Ow, and my motherboard is the Gigabyte EX58-UD5. The real issue is 2 4890s taking up the entire space available for all cards, and I want to keep my SB xfi card (PCI)

i think i see your problem, means you don't have a PCIe over the main PCI e slot for the GPU you had to put it in one of the other onces, and now you find that the cooler on your new cards takes that room right up?

also I relised how much the blocks are alone

I m sure you can fit your sound card above the first HD4890, not sure through as the heatsink might get in the way, which is annoying

The overclocked 260 216's seem to be up to 4890 speed plus have physx.
