i am going to use the case with the radiator/pump fittings that come with it.

i need some 1/2 tubing.

and i need help in finding out what cpu block this is as i need some fixing's to attach it to my motherboard.
the block is very heavy as well.

and finally....what is this pump like ?

pump weighs a lot as well and ive tested it and it's very quiet and very powerful.

i need quite a bit of tubing due to a fill port installed on the case.

many thanks

I believe that bock is the Storm by Cathar (or a copy of). A fantastic block for it's time that has had it's design features copied and enhanced throughout the years. It's superceded by todays blocks but will still be an 'ok' performer.

Not sure of the pump but looks like its from the same era circa 2005/6. They both most likely came from the same kit.

What motherboard do you have? Looking at the mounting plate it has fittings for 754/939 and possibly intel 478. Tbh I would opt for a new pump and block as a decent second hand block goes for peanuts which would most likely out perform that block now. Also a pump of that age is most likely nearing end of life and therefore I wouldn't rely on it.

Think you might struggle if it's a rev 1 block (which it looks like). You might fall lucky but I think only the rev 2 block plate was made for 775.

Get something like a DDC10w and a Switftech GTZ. If you are intent on using the existing rad make sure you give it a damn good flush.

I've flushed the rad out quite a few times already so that should be ready to go once I find a CPU block and pump for a good price.

That pump is a Aquaextreme 50z. A very good pump with a very low heat dump. Mine is almost 5 years old now and still going strong. It's also very quiet if you place it on a piece of foam. If it's working ok then there is certainly no reason to replace it. Do not run it without water going through it though!!

thats some good news,i did try it when i got the case because the water-cooling set up was still attached.

your right about it being quiet as well.

whats the life span on these pumps ?

ive managed to get a cpu block so all i need now is some 1/2 tubing if anyone knows a good site to get some from.

Have'nt a clue about lifespan but mine has'nt missed a beat.

OCUK sells tubing but you need to be aware that it's only supplied in 1m lengths. If you aorder two meters you will recieve 2x 1m lengths not a single 2m length. Other sites usually supply in complete lengths.

i have found some tubing but not sure what one to get to be honest.

im sure the fittings are 1/2" but they come in different size's ?

is this the right one ?

XSPC 1/2" ID - 3/4" OD (13-19mm) High Flex Tubing

Those pumps will last for many years. Shame you can't get a mounting plate for that Storm but it is an old block. Mind you, looking at that plate, it might only need some extra holes drilling in it. Try measuring the holes on a 775 motherboard and see if you have room on that plate.

As for tubing, i always use 7/162 tubing on 1/22 barbs for a good tight fit. Less chance of leakage then and you don't neccessarily need to use hose clips with it. I used to use Masterkleer but have now switched to XSPC.See here for OCUK's 7/16" tubing range.

With regards to the block, am i right in thinking that the top plate has all the holes for mounting? If so all you would need is four small bolt's, eight matching nuts, four washers and eight fibre washers to protect the mobo. Insert the bolt through the mobo with a fibre washer slid down to the head, slide another down the bolt to go against the mobo and then screw one of the nuts down to hold the bolt. You would then have bolt - fibre washer - mobo - fibre washer - nut. Do that to all four holes, fit the block, slide a washer onto the bolt and tighten down with the rest of the nuts. Alternatively, maybe some of the 775 bolt through kits would be compatiable with your block.

silly question.

what way round is the flow of the water on your pump please as there is no indicators on which way the water flow's.

ive got a backing plate for a 775 fitting and a new xspc block and the plate on the storm does indeed have 775 fitting's.

now what block do i use ?

the xspc or storm ?
