I need to upgrade my system to 32GB of RAM (currently have 16GB). But my heatsink is so big I can't fit most of the RAM in which has the heat spreader fins on top. I just need the standard flat topped RAM.

Currently I'm using Kingston Hyper-X RAM but was wondering if there was anything better out there? I'm not sure if I need any particularly fast RAM but it does need to be decent quality.

Any suggestions?

They all look dual channel to me. I'd prefer quad channel kits if at all possible.

Just so you know this is the heatsink that I have installed. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-015-NC&groupid=701&catid=2330&subcat=2346

As long as the RAM fits underneath it I'll be happy. There are some great kits but they have huge heat spreader fins which I think will probably be to big.

Edit: I just found out you can take some of the extra fins off some types of RAM. Does anyone have a list of RAM that this is possible on? I could get some decent high performance RAM if that were the case.

Hi, nothing wrong with Dual channel kits x2, just OC'd my 4820k to 4.8GHz.

If its good enough for 8packs 4770 at 4.6ghz bundle they can't be that bad.

Dual channel kits will work grand on x79, its the cpu that dictates wether ram runs in dual, tri, quad. Team group Vulcan here and very impressed with it.
