Need 4-pin to 3-pin fan adapter

The 4 pin fan should connect to the 3 pin on the fan controller unless there isn't physically room for it.

The fourth pin is just left unconnected.

It's physically impossible to put the 4 pin from the fan into the 3 pin on the fan controller :P

This is what the fan connector looks like

This is what the fan controller connection looks like (without the molex of course)

That image I can see.

It's hotlinked from a competitor and is even watermarked with their name.

Please remove it from the post and the quote.

Alternatively if you have a spare 3pin connector from an old fan you can remove the pins from the 4pin and put them into a 3pin connector. It's easy to remove the pins with a small flathead screw driver (You just lift up the tabs and pull them out carefully). Then just tape up the end of the spare wire.

Apologies for the link. I clicked on the wrong photo.

Depends which one you are referring too.
As two different cables have the same ID [81120]
the one the left connector has 4pin and one has 3pin, he needs the 3pin one.
:c

Is what he needs (which is most likely the one you are referring too), or for the connector on the right to be open (so he has room for the extra 4pin to just hang over the edge like in

The Y adapter does not look like what the picture shows! :( The picture was a lie....

The Y adapter that I received had the shroud about the two 3pin connections but I soon fixed that with a pair of scissors.
