I have some stuff on my computer which I would like to backup once a month onto dvds. The total size is around 30gigs, so I would need to span the backup over multiple dvds.

Is there a good program which can easily do this? Free would be perfect, but I don't mind paying a little for it.

Thanks!

I think DVD is a bad medium for storage . I 've backed up many a movie from Pc onto a DVD and sometimes after 7-8 months the disk is unreadable . Apparantly they can degrade in time . The ones I've used were in proper closed containers ,recorded using different makes of disks at different speeds , yet some have still failed . This is quite a common problem ,epecially amongst folk using Pc's to edit there footage .I've resorted to using an external drive for backup [data] and a media player drive for video .These things are so inexpensive nowadys , you could buy two and back up twice .

I would tend to agree. With backups that size you are limited in what you can do. You just need one dvd to fail, a scratch, a bad disc and you've had it.

I backup to a spare machine that sits in my garage, 40gb backup each week keeping the old copy for a week. External hard disk would be less hassle.
