Found my self in a bit of a pickle, need to change my addressee and get a bank statement with new addressee on ASAP, I am with lloyds, whats the best way to do this? going to go into the bank tomorrow to change my addressee but can they print me off a statement with my new addressee straight away? also is it not possible for them to send me sort sort of letter that isn't a bank statement? would prefer to keep my balance private if possible.

yeah just go in there, they wil do all they can do and there's nothing else you can do.

I would guess they can change the address straight away, assuming you take sufficient evidence of your identity. Then they can post a new statement (maybe just ask them for a statement of interest on your account for tax purposes, rather than a full statement). It will likely take a few days to arrive in the post.

Not sure what they need to see as evidence of new address. But I suggest taking as much ID as you can such as passport, driving license, obviously your bank card, and anything which proves you now live at the new address (elec bill, tenancy agreement, etc).

I know i'll most likely get flamed by the holier than though brigade, but if you really are stuck and this isn't for anything nefarious, then you can get an online statement/or scan a hard copy and edit it with a PDF editor to show your new address.

I believe there's a term for this, something beginning with F. What's the word again,?

You do not want to be caught doing this!
Definitely fraudee

Yes, but he is legitimately changing his address, the banks systems may not update for a few days ie checks etc. He knows he is changing addresses, so just pre-empting!

That's why i mentioned i am not advocating this for nefarious use.

OP, don't do this. What a stupid thing to even suggest.

Why? He is changing his address, but the bank will most likely not reflect the changes in time - it really comes down to how much of pickle he really is in - i see no issue changing a bank statement if in a couple of days it will be legit anyway.

Because it's fraud

It will never be legitimate, as it reflects the position at the point that the statement was produced.

It doesn't because it isn't timestamped - it can be printed, emailed, whatever is needed and in a few days the bank will update its records and the world will continue spinning.

Give your bank a call and tell them about your idea. Let us know how long it takes for you to be passed to their fraud team.

Send a trip report!

Not once did i say it was the best thing to do, it was a suggestion. But the OP has said he is in a pickle, we have no idea or how serious that pickle is.

The OP is trying to get his new address on a bank statement, not a fraudulent address, but HIS new address - it just may take a few days for the change to reflect on screen and in branch. So for example, in the meantime:

  • If he doesn't bring in proof of address by 5pm today he loses the keys to his new flat and as he has nowhere to go he is homeless. Or

  • If he doesn't bring in proof of address to his new job today he has failed his probation - no ifs or buts.

So he adds his new address to the statement and in a few days his bank says the exact same information. No one is trying to defraud anyone.

No one here ever made a fake ID and bought illegal items such as beer and fags?

So now you're making things up to try and justify your idea for fraud... You've actually made him homeless or failed his probation if he doesn't commit fraud (you've actually criminalised him and suggested that he commit another offence to resolve the problem!).

Wow.
Back in the real world, I actually the OP's request another way, that he needs a proof of identification (address) for something else that he needs.

The point of using a bank statement is often to show that a bank, a trustworthy organization, can independently verify the account holder's more important details, like an address.

Your idea is to intentionally misrepresent the bank statement by doctoring an official document. We call this activity fraud and it's a really stupid thing for you to suggest that anyone consider. C'mon champ, this isn't hard stuff to grasp.
