I posted in the graphics forum and so far nothing. Anyone here fancy a go?

The thread is here.

Planning on using it for various things, would be very useful to have.

That really good SS, thanks a lot. :)

I know the normal one is rubbish when its enlarged thats why i wanted someone to draw a bigger one and draw it from scratch.

The original plan was to use it as part of a new sig but i think it might go in the quick guide as well, and anyone else who wants to use it can grab it from there.

Could i trouble you for one with a blue forum coloured background when you have a moment?
Can't do it in paint without drawing round it and when i did that it looked terrible.
Also is it possible to do one thats backgroundless?
And what did you do it with, photoshop?
Have you got it in a higher quality/filesize version which i could put in the quick guide so it looks nicer? I only need the smaller filesize for making sigs.

It just occured to me that i might be able to do one myself using sketchup so i could sort out the background myself.

Thanks very much.

Thanks thats great. :)

I'll have a go changing the size myself.

Edit: I've done 4 or 5 sigs, this is the first. Nothing special, still working on some better ones.
The idea is to keep he same logo across all sigs i make to give a kind of branding to it.

SiriusB's logo has been put in the quick guide aswell.

Ahh Mr null... i was just experimenting with your excellent sig generator and it all works marvellously except for one thing, the image quality seems to deteriorate compared to the image i uploaded... no one else seems to have this problem so does it work best with certain image formats?

Nice foldy logo btw...

I really must learn photoshop, as i struggle to even resize things in paint.

How did you do your sig if you can't photoshop?

Thats just reminded me, i used to be able to use pro, think i've still got it somewhere.

Heres the url of the sig:
Code:
http://fahstat.piggott.me.uk/?mode=user&urnk_col=FF0000&urnk_x=100&urnk_y=50&unm_col=FF0000&unm_pre=&unm_x=100&unm_y=10&pts_en=0&wus_en=0&tpts_en=0&twus_en=0&trnk_col=FF0000&trnk_x=100&trnk_y=70&avg_col=FF0000&avg_x=100&avg_y=30&gen_uid=Joe42&gen_canvas=folding%20sig%20template.PNG
See what i mean?

I didn't see any quality settings, so i'll go back and have another go.

Edit: With the quality set to 100 it still not as good as the original uploaded image.

Egads man! Get some antialiansing! :p

I use the GIMP. It's cross-platform F/OSS due to its use of the free and open GTK+ environment. It's also free of charge, very much unlike photoshop. I like it very much. It pwns MS Paint and it doesn't pwn your wallet like PS does seeing as you want to some simple operations.
I don't think any of these 'photoshoppers' actually paid for it ;)

I tried to download the gimp earlier, but my rule with software is if i can't figure out how to download/install it its not worth bothering with, and i couldn't work out how to download gimp.
Common problem with open source software i'm afraid, it just dumps you into an ftp with a massive list of versions and then goes on about binaries. I could work it out i expect if i had the time and patience but i haven't. I may come back to it in future, or i may have been missing something obvious, i don't know.
It helps to have a proper name, which 'the gimp' really isn't, another common problem with open source software. And they wonder why ordinary non techie human beings never use this stuff?

Thats a nice sig template btw, i might make use of it at some point. :)

Edit: Ohh and some more. Thanks. :p

BTI's quick'n'easy guide to installing the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP):

Download, unzip, and run this: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gimp-win/gtk+-2.8.18-setup-1.zip?use_mirror=kent
I trust you can unzip the file because Windows XP includes an unzipper.
Next download and run this: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gimp-win/gimp-2.2.13-i586-setup-1.zip?use_mirror=kent

Done.
Probably not their fault, but out of three mirrors one failed, one couldn't be found and one crashed dap and firefox.
But now that you've made it easy providing can get a download to work i will give it another go. :)

Post in the sig thread if you want any changes

Cheers,

Thats fantastic, thanks very much indeed. :)

I created this thread more for making a general purpose folding logo for all to use as well as to use that logo in a sig, in future i will use the sig thread. I'd forgotten it existed.
Didn't realise there were so many nice people willing to do things like this, its great :)

The help files are massive and are distributed separately. If you'd like to install the help files use this link: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gimp-win/gimp-help-2-0.10-setup.zip?use_mirror=kent
Another one of my rules of software. If i need the help file for even the simplest operations its probably going to be too much hassle. ;)

But i've been meaning to learn to 'draw' properly for a long time so i'm going to make an exception for this and learn it properly when i have time. Or photoshop if i can get hold of it, i did have a copy once. Although i'm all for open source software if its as good or better...

*Resists urge to make sig*

SiriusB
Go for it. The poppies are out of season now ;)
My intention was for there to be some good logos for all to use, the more that use them the better.

Edit: There doesn't seem to be a link to Nulls sig generator anywhere, so i'm going to put one in the quick guide. I'll make a sigs section and link to the logos, the stats generator, the 'make me a sig' thread and the various other sig making tools and utilities out there. Needs to be done imo.
