Im currently running a 3GB twin frozr card,i5 650 and 8gb ram off a prebuilt motherboard and a standard HDD with a 550W PSU

I want to upgrade my processor to something like amd 9370

Obviously in doing that im guessing ill need to upgrade the PSU,but to what?(i know ill neeed to change motherboards too)

Currently i play on a 720p tv screen, but i lag on battlefield 4 in high and ultra when the battle gets big.Can you confirm that this is basically my CPU bottlenecking my GPU,as i thought the gpu would be good enough to handle bf4.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forums, try asking in general hardware, Stulid and Doomspeed should be able to help you out.

Ah,i did look at the categories but i must have missed that one,i thought it was best suited here.Should i repost the same topic or wait for a mod to change it to there?

I will put in a request to get it moved :)

Also pleas re-check the FAQ regards linking to competitors ;)

Yeah,i made this account a while ago as you can see,i wasnt even aware that this site sold stuff :P.i was just linking to show the item thats all, sorry.

i guess £200 is my budget,i dont really have a budget and obviously i dont wanna spend money for no reason.but if thats what was needed id go over budget for it.

Is the 9370 overkill for gaming then?as thats all my pc is for.Im yet to come across a game thats requiring much more than bf4.Although i do remember playing gw2 and it was awful for FPS so im guessing thats to do with my cpu too.

Isnt the RAM 2300mhz?Motherboard says its highest is 2133 or am i completely wrong here lol.would you say the 550w PSU i have is sufficient still with that upgrade?

I have no affinity or preference on what brand i buy,i just buy what i think or hope will do the best job for me lol, although i admit when i had the nvidia card the driver updates were much more frequent than amd

Ah yes forgot about the PSU - In terms of power 550w is fine, but do you know the make / model of the PSU?

Another two questions do you know the model of your GPU and can your case take a ATX motherboard.

Id change the case as the pc was originally a prebuilt buy from pcworld (Yes,shoot me down),my plan was to make a budget 2nd gaming pc from the parts i have for my family so they can buy it off me as they need a computer.

So ive done some reading and not read much good about the 970 mobos, people having problems with the 8320 cpus on them, which is what ive decided im going to get as i beleive more and more games will begin to utilize 8 cores because of the 8 core consoles.

So im looking at the Asus M5A97 R2.0
AMD 8320
Still undecided on the case but will that mobo and the 7950 card still fit in a mid atx tower
What does flashing bios mean and how do i do it?Says ill need to flash the bios on that board if i instal a vishera cpu to it.Is that still true with the R2.0?

Flashing is updating the BIOS so it can support new cpus's and any other issues.

To update you download the latest BIOS file, save to a memory stick and when booting you into the BIOS there will be a option to update the BIOS, you can also do this through Windows but can be higher chance of failing the update.

The review is over a year ago and hopefully all new motherboard will have the near latest BIOS which will support the CPU.

Belongs the tower takes ATX size boards then there should be no issues but check with us :D

This is what ive selected at the moment

im not sure how to post it like you did

its lasted me a good year or 2 and a few months running the 7950,whats the difference between dual rail and i presume theirs tripple rail or w/e

Maybe ill leave the upgrade for another time then,i cant afford to upgrade practicly everything in my pc lol.Whats the difference between the other board stulid?

Ah right, ive found the board for £65 although with the added shipping its pretty pointless getting it seperate from another site.I guess ill give it a couple of weeks before i make a decision.I always take ages to choose something when it comes to my pc because theres so many different options and potention pros/cons :P
