need a card = or better than 6800gt

i need a pcie card that would be equal to or better than a 6800gt agp i had.
what could i get, im not sure really about what the equivalent is nowadays, is it the gs or ultra? 7800gs? what i dunno! lol!

i know nothing about the ati range so what would that be x800??
i only want to pay about 100 tops (second hand) and was wanderin what would be the best card? it is a card for my mate and he just wants mid range for now, anyone point me in the right direction?

A PCI-E 6800gs is about as close as you will get, it is the direct replacement from Nvidia, the performance is about on a par.

From ATI I'd recommend an X800XT or X850XT as being of about the same standard or even slightly faster.

I have heard of 7800gt cards going for around £120 which isn't all that much to pay for a card offering so much extra performance but if £100 is a strict limit then any of the other cards I've mentioned would do.

yeah, i think 100 was his top limit, and that was only cos i said anything less and he was wasting his time, he fried his 6600gt and was blown away with the 6800gt i loaned to him but unfortunately i have had to get that back off him!

not enough posts to look on mm yet but how much out of interest does a 6600gt go for around here? might just get him one of them again and i could upgrade him to pcie then with an old board i have, he would probably be happier with that. 120 for a 7800gt? lol just sold the aforementioned 6800gt for that to my mated dad for photoshop, lol might have to go sli with prices like that!
