I currently have a TT Soprano with window and it just drove me mad before trying to work on it.

The GTX required me to move my hdd's but if i get another for SLi i simply can't have my 4 X hdd's

2 raptors and 2 400gbs just to note.

Also there's just no room to move!

Can someone recommend a case where i will have LOADS of room to work in, i have a tagan 600w psu with quite long cables to be honest so they should reach far enough!

Oh and its gonna be ATX for my asus A8N

How about the Armor or gandalf? or are they the same size inside?

And it has to be smart, with a window if possible but not a necessity

Thanks for any advice!

Akasa Eclipse 62.

Lian Li v1000+

Lian Li G70

Antec P180

CM Stacker / Stacker 810 (NOT 830)

Silverstone TJ07

That is the list of the cases I would consider, in that order. Any look good to you?

The Antec P180 takes a lot of beating, very easy to keep it tidy. Four harddrive bays in seperate section away from mainboard. Then there is a sperarte tray to take another two drives that is level with the graphics cards, remove that and you have 120mm fan intake blowing directly at the graphics cards. Very good quiet case. I have two systems built using them.

The other trick if you want to keep you current case is get one of the 5 1/4 hdd carriers, they take three 5 1/4 bays to install four hdds with a front mounted 120mm fan. I am fairly sure that Thermaltake make one for the Kandalf cases, though they will fit any case.

Off topic, but what seems to be the problem with the stacker 830? The 810 was very popular but people seem to be avoiding the 830 like the plague.

Wow 1 or 2 are quite expensive

I like the cm stacker and the antec p180

so are you 100% sure i can fit 2 7800GTX 512s XFX xxx

and 4 hdds in and stick have room to swing a cat?

In all there you could run Quad SLI bar maybe the P180 and v1000+ due to the heat, but would EASILY fit 4 in. :p

The Stacker 830 gets rave reviews but they miss ALL the issues, why reviews are a load of rubbish unless you know the person voicing the opinions, like everyone knows what I favour now so no surprises if I like something new, it will be similar to what I already like etc.

Anyhow, 830 gets rave reviews, however it has side panels that don't fit properly, it has major resonation issues and the general build quality is poor; very poor.

as always the usual suspects for a fairly standard rig requirement.

Sad to say yes, TJ03 and Wavemaster would pop up if watercooling though; but as you said a fairly standard system. :)

i doubt i'll use sli (i'm just trying to find another decent priced card), let alone quad sli.

I'll never use water cooling, i don't overclock to be honest, only maybe a 100mhz or somethin on the processor.

I think i'm going with the Antec at the moment!!

The antec is an excellant choice, adn if you have only four hdds then remove the top bay and you have a 120mm intake fan blowing directly on the graphics cards. Also with the top mounted 120mm fan you are really not going have any issues with heat. I have also watercooled mine, so room for that as will if you change your mind.

Where is the rad mounted? Internally? If so, you couldnt post some pics please.

I'm pretty happy with my Stackers (one original, one 810). Five disks in one and three in the other. Only problem is one of them is boxed in on all sides, so it traps hot air. If I can find a way to remove the trapped hot air from the back of my desk then it'll be much happier. This is adequately demonstrated by the 7C difference in average disk temperature between the two. :(

The rad is a 120.2 mounted externally above the top blow hole on spacers, that way getting the internal fan blowing through it and two top mounted fans sucking. Seems to work well and is really quiet

Have you thought about modding a fan to your desk to vent the air?

I did this when I had a corner desk and it worked miracles.

Have you seen how full my desk is? I couldn't spare the space. Besides, I'm as much use at DIY (and by extension modding) as a chocolate fireguard. Just ask Bundles. :D

On the other hand, if I could find a way to blow the air out from under the desk, that would work. Wonder if a 120mm Delta would help. :D

120mm delta + Lego = fan mount

fan mount + cardboard = wind tunnel

=lower temps.

:D

Although I did not use a delta, but 4 YS tech's and I cut a huge slot out of the side of my desk to do it. :p

(We are talking 2001, so I would be, erm, 12 without a camera. :()
