As per title, I'm looking for something portable for my mp3 player. A few years ago I saw you could buy cheap 5 euro pc speakers which also worked on 4 1.5v batteries, however now in shop the cheapest thing on a battery was 25 bloody euros and it were tiny rubbish speakers. Also had the rubbish i-pod dock, I don't want an I pod dock I just want a 2.5mm jack...

Is there any way to get semi decent quality speakers that cost less than 50 €, with semi decent I mean something that has a larger than 1 inch cone and is simply louder and better... Something similar to cheap 2.1 sets like logitech x210 but then on battery power.

DIY ghetto blaster!

What about stereo, I don't want to lose half the sounds, need 2 speakers...
And how do I go and make this DIY speaker :p. I'd prefer it to be for 4 or 8 1.5 vAA batteries...

Have you tried the Sony SRS-A212? they should do the job.

I probably wouldnt bother with the DIY lol

I use a Tripath 2024 amp powered off laptop batteries, connected to some JVC midi speakers that are gaffer taped together, sounds pretty good for a boombox. :)

How loud does it need to be?

I don't know, about similar to a 6w RMS speaker if possible, but at least louder than a Sony Ericsson k750i at max volume and without cracking.
