hi guys im in need of a 1155 motherboard as mine has just fried after spilling water on it, i literally can't install any OS the starting windows screen just hangs and all peripherals will be turned off.

i have updated the motherboard and attempted to install windows on 3 other ssd/hdd's etc with no avail, can someone please direct me to a good cheap motherboard around 40-50£?

cheers

just looked at my old motherboard and i paid 130 for it, well this sucks can't wait to drop to a budget mb, is there really much disadvantages other than ports etc?

old rig i know

thanks

thanks for the reply man, where's a good place to pick one up? looked on OC and nothing, the only ones i can find are second hand on ebay ;/

hi stulid,

thank you for your response; do you know where i could pick up a new one? not to be picky but this is my 3rd motherboard in 2 years and i wanna minimize any problems if possible as my PC has a mind of it's own sometimes too. Yeah i know i suck with motherboards

I bought that motherboard before, it's actually the one that's acting up right now; and it cost me 12£ less than the price it is going for atm :S(i bought from OC)

anything in the price range of £40-50 on OC? the mb selection here seems kinda weak for low budget

I think it's mainly the fact that Z77/Z68 chipset mobos are no longer in production, so OcUK don't have many.
That B-Grade should work perfectly, if not I believe a refund and return is free. It would pretty much be a new motherboard

I feel like a right picky idiot atm, but that mb is £80 and i'm not even sure if it's the mb that is fried in my PC as i'm able to locate the bios settings and update it etc, it's just the peripherals hang whilst the 'starting windows' screen appears.

that's why i was wondering if there could be a cheap one for £50ish so i could test it and if it's not the mb i saved £30! (i'm a cheap student lol)

i guess i'll look elsewhere then as theres not much here atm

thanks

asus P8Z68-V LE Motherboard, Socket 1155, 4 x DDR3, ATX, No I/O Shield !

what do you guys think about this?(not linking external sites, hope this allows for a discussion) i can get ahold of one for £44, but i really need some help with this as i'm such a novice regarding motherboards

urgh just noticed the one i linked doesn't even have 6gb sata? or am i completely misunderstanding?

edit: looks like it might be the z77 then

seems ok,the one above is z77 though which is better if you planned on going ivybridge cpu,it unlocks pcie3 speed

but apart from that there isn't much diff from z68 to z77

if I were you id stump up the extra and go z77 board

just give it to me straight guys, please; stulid and wazza if you was in my shoes and wanted to budget this would you go for the b grade z77 or the new z68?

sorry for the stupid questions but this should wrap it up hopefully

Im just hoping this works or i've wasted my money if my MB isn't faulty

to give u a brief summary, i spilt water into my PC, i turned the machine off instantly and a few hours later i unpatiently booted into safe mode. I thought at this point i will turn it off and run a dehumidifier to dry it out for a few days and then return to backup my documents, i did this and then when i tried entering into safe mode i was unable to; i can't remember the reason.

I updated the BIOS, attempted to install windows7 on multiple hdd's as well as windows 8 on another HDD but it just hangs on starting windows(so frustrating!) the only way for me to get to the windows 7 installation screen is to run safe mode whilst the disc is in the audio drive lol, could it be the MB?

could be idk,you should always let it fully dry out before powering it up,its powering it up that causes it to short circuit if any water or dampness is left behind ect

did you leave the cmos battery out a good 30 minutes then try?

i havent touched the battery, should i remove it?

it's just frustrating man because there's so many variables that can be the root of this problem, i mean hell i'm getting to the bios and it's booting up etc but it just hangs when i try load an OS or install one which makes it hard to determine if it is water damage and what component is effected and i really don't know what to do...

i thought try replace the motherboard and see if it helps, should i remove the battery?
