Hello everyone,

I am planning to build a APU system with the New Gigabyte GA-F2A85XN-WIFI

It will serve as a HTPC and steambox for when you just want to sit down on a sofa and play games but hate console limitations.

So I have got everything planned out and ready to buy apart from a PSU and cooler.

I'm thinking that a 400w PSU will work fine but I can't find one I like.
I'd like it to be silent for the most part, modular/semi modular, decent efficiency and not too expensive (under £80 preferably).

I am also thinking about how to cool the APU, I have been thinking about a Air cooler by noctua but I have heard unfavorable things about their AMD mounting system and the MB I want to use has everything fairly close together (especially the RAM).

Any Suggestions would be fantastic.

Thank you.

This is what I'd buy.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Seasonic G series 450w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £69.98
1 x Noctua NH-U9B SE2 CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / 1150 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £40.00
Total : £120.48 (includes shipping : £8.75).

I happen to have an APU based HTPC (its my everyday PC too) it has a Seasonic PSU in it (X560 which is quite frankly overkill) but I bought it about a couple of weeks before the G series were released & I could have saved a few bob. :(

The Noctua (The one above) I bought with the APU, its one of the few tower coolers that will fit in a Silverstone LC17. I found nothing wrong with the fitting, its a case of replacing the standard AMD cooler fitting on the board with the ones supplied with the cooler, Takes 5 minutes, Job done. Fans are nice & quiet & I could just about justify buying one.
