So i need to upgrade, it's pretty much christmas and i'll have some extra cash.

What i need:

Mobo
Graphics card
Processor

What i have:

E6300
ATI x850xt
Gigabyte DS3

3GB Geil ULL RAM
Scythe ninja cpu cooler
Hard drives
Sound card
Case
Monitor/keyboard/speakers/mouse and cd/dvd drives

I was thinking of the combo:

Abit IP 35
Q6600
8800GTS (g92) or 8800GT

Any suggestions, comments or alternatives are welcome.

Looking to spend 400-500 max.

I would go with that, exept I would probably keep the processor and overclock it.
Dosent seem worth getting a quad due to not that many things using it, and that processor is already pretty good.

If your current procesor was poop, that I would say yeh, go for the quad.

Just buy a new videocard. Why exactly do you want a quad core CPU? A fast Intel C2D dual is more than suitable for home/gamer. Unless you like throwing money constantly upgrading.

I would overclock the cpu and upgrade the graphics.

You will not see a major increase in performance yet with the quad, although windows does feel a bit smoother. Also new quads are out soon (Q1 next year)
