Anyway please can you lot help me out as ive not much of an idea on how to spec myself a PC from scratch. I will need the lot, not worried about perephials at the moment but i would like a machine that will run the latest of games including UT3 when available. I have a budget of around £1100. Any proccessor will be fine.

Total : £968.05

and just pick a case of your choice tbh.

anyone else agree? maybe a different mobo?

Maybe go for a Gigabyte GA_P35_DS3P (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard for £88.11 .

When DDR3 becomes more reasonably priced there will be much better boards around.

Otherwise it looks spot on to me.

Interesting - I like the kit list. From the reviews I've read I think the Asus PK5 range of mobos is better for overclocking than the Gigabyte ones, especially DS3R which can handle both DDR2 and DDR3. I've also heard the Gigabyte board can be a bit tight if you want to fit a large CPU coolerm and getting the most out of DDR3 will need a dedicated DDR3 motherboard, so imho worth waiting until the DDR3 costs come down and then upgrading the mobo and RAM. This would also let you take advantage of the new X38 chipset at the same time (which is looking very very sweet). Don't forget that to make the most of 4GB RAM you'll need to use Vista 64bit.

Spec looks good, however two things to consider:

1. Make sure you get the G0 "Energy Efficient Edition" of the Q6600... the one in the spec is the old stepping and therefore runs hotter and uses more power.
2. You'll need a fan to go with the Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme as it doesn't come with one, so get something like a Scythe S-FLEX 120mm 1200 RPM fan.

Cheers guys just what i was wanting, What do you rekon to the watercooling, is this only needed when overclocking is involved or is there other advantages of this.
