need a decent screen recorder

What do you mean by screen recorder? Something like CamSudio?

i used cam studio but the recording wouldnt play and when they did it only played half

i made a video, a hilarious one at that and when i tried to play it both in the camstudio player and vlc it doesnt work, in vlc i see a blank screen and in camstudio player it takes 5 mins to load then only plays half the video

I'm still a little confused. You say you've already madea a video so do you just want playback or recording aswell?

install the xvid codec (koepi version) and tell camstudio to encode the video in xvid, set the quality to about 75 in the xvid settings

camstudio is the best tool i've found for doing caps, you just need to set a decent codec on it
