What is the difference between the X3230 2.66GHz / 2x4MB 1066FSB and the Dual Core Xeon 3070, 2.66GHz / 2MB 1066FSB processor and what is better?

We have a Dell Poweredge 840 and these are the two processors offered for upgrade that are of any benefit.

Thing is the price is ridiculous and I'm assuming that I could use a Q6600.

Or, why could I not use the Intel Quad-Core Xeon X3220 (as opposed to their offering of the X3230).

Just need some clarification here if poss.

Its a server for filesharing, email, DHCP etc.

If the E6700 is old hat, what is the Q6700?

I think I'll go with the X3220
