Well, i have decided i will probably have to get a new PC Case. With a baby looming on the horizon i think i should put my Coolermaster 201 into storage (Wardrobe) as i don't want little fingers prodding it.

So, i want a desktop case. I love how quiet my existing PC is so any suggestions as to what case i could get? I am thinking of keeping my existing Motherboard etc so a case to accomodate my existing hardware might be a good idea, that is, unless someone can convince me to get a smaller case that will perform the same (Quiet). Here is my current spec:

AMD 3500 Venice, Thermalright SI-120, Asus A8NE-Premium Mobo, NEC DVDRW, 80G Hard Drive, 7600 GT 256mb Graphics Card, Seasonic 500w PSU.

I look forward to your ideas and views. As for budget, well, lets see what is available and go from there. Thanks people

Lian Li PC7+.

Its basically your current case's old competitor, sold very cheapily with newer fans. £55 bargain.

Its a good option, and at the money it is almost throw away kit, and very durable to baby / dog attacks. :)

I've been looking at the Antec NSK2400. I think it looks pretty good! Clean, tidy lines and a decent footprint suggests it will be good for upgradeabilty and expansion! It's twin 120mm fans look to offer good airflow for cooling plus at £55 with it's included 380 watt supply it looks like good value!

If you want small then i also like the look of the Overture II (standard atx but pretty low profile) and the Minuet II (micro atx).

Will these accomodate my Mobo etc? I don't want to go and buy a different mobo etc. I currently us a Thermalright SI-120 heatsink and an 120mm fan. Would these fit in a Silverstone Desktop case?

I quite like the look of the Lascala cases. Wouldn't have to change anything! All my components would fit!! Nice price too. I like a quiet system so i could make it so with a bit of tweaking! Thanks guys

WJA96 have you managed to get a v800 cooling well and silent / very quiet?

Interesting to know if you have as having a play around I could not get sub 50 temperatures on a p4 northy without some considerable noise.

Do you mean V600? Then yes. 1 x YS-Tech FD1238 mounted on the patent fan holder with Acoustimounts pushing air in coupled with a YS-Tech FD1225 at the front pulling the air out did the trick.

Both fans are 5v modded by the way (definitely not silent though, but it's a server, so who cares!)

And you remember the guy who said that Aluminium cases don't conduct heat away? He should feel the back of a V600!

My 201 is Alu and is superb at keeping things cool. I am thinking now that i may change my desk and get one with a cupboard built in for my PC case. I can then mod the cupboard by cutting a square on the inside and putting a mesh there and doing the same with the door. That way it would be safe from little fingers and also kept cool.

What do you think guys?

He has not felt the back of my v1000+, if I put acoustic padding on the top back of my case my GPU temp would go from a nice and cool 49 to about 100!

I did not mean the v600, I meant the v800 you said. Im still looking for a good silent case and I would rather go with Lian Li than Silverstone due to the more competative pricing, but the v800 just seems to have really mediocre noise/cooling potential.

Yup very good idea. :)

If your doing an enclosed 'silent box' as I think the term is; (cupboard for the rest of us) all you really need to do is have the airflow +10% in and out matched for the case temp to stay the same, have a 120mm front bottom and 2x 120mm rear top for best effect.

Yea, Yewen, good idea mate. Not got any case fans in the case at the mo but if i put it in a cupboard i think it would be a good idead to have some fans.

Anyone got any PC desks that would fit my need?

Still undecided about a new case guys. Don't think i will be looking at a desktop one now. Looking at getting a Midi with a door. I have a 201 in use now but will put that away as little finger can do a lot of harm!!

Quite like these:

What is the difference between the 732 and the 730?

Na, i like Coolermaster mate. Always have. Door looks the same to me!! lol

Anyway, the case needs to have a door.

EDIT: Just noticed that one of them has a wavey door! :D
