Need a few suggestions

Ok a little ahead of time, but im guessing most people have a general idea of whats coming out over the next few months.

Basically my current system is:

AMD Athlon 4000+
Asus A8R-MVP
2GB RAM (1GB Geil Ultra-X Platinum and 1GB Corsair Value CAS2.5)
ATi X1900XT
Plenty of HDD Space, and am happy with them (Also not interested in Raptors)
Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro
X-Fi Xtreme Music
Thermaltake Tsunami Dream
Digimate 19" Monitor

Think that covers it. Now just after xmas next year I have a 3 grand baby bond maturing. £1000 of this i'd like to put towards my system. Was wondering of the sort of upgrades im going to want to look at, or whether i should just buy a second system or what. Weird to want to upgrade it but i want it to be absolutely fantastic for a few years minimum.

Save the money, and in 18 months time buy a new rig.

Will get you by far the best PC over the time you want, your rig is very high end already.

There isn't a PC you could build that would be top-end and remain there without upgrading for more than about 6 months to a year at the outside. I'd agree with Yewen's suggestion, it will give you better value for money and more chance of having a good PC throughout the time rather than a great PC for the first 6-12 months then an average one for the next 24 months.
