Need a firewall ASAP

I'm running a MC server and need a firewall the server Is on a xp sp2 machine and only has antivirus, my question is: is the windows firewall good enough if not what FREE firewall should I use?

Well is the server exposed to the internet or for internal only?

Most of the time the inbuilt firewall should be fine.

What he said, it sounds like its xp that's facing the internet, its firewall plus your router security should be fine for home use.

Home routers have built in firewalls these days

If you are looking at businesses then you might be looking at a dedicated firewall which can be useful for other things (VPN, Content filtering, Gateway Anti-Virus etc)

As above router firewalls generally do a good enough job.

Hopefully he's just forwarded a single port for Minecraft instead of adding the machine to the DMZ, in which case he should be fine and doesn't require additional protection.

Right, it's exposed to the Internet, now what's a DMZ? I have forwarded 2 ports although I think I only need one, I will get rid of the other in the morning
