Need a first car

I'm due to pass my test in the next month or so and am looking at getting a car (obviously)

I quite fancy a Smart ForTwo Cabrio (the soft-top version), but whenever I tell someone I get "what do you want that for"

Are they really that bad?

I know there small, but they get pretty good mileage and the insurance is pretty cheap too.

Has anyone got one and can tell me first hand about its pro's and cons?

Also any other reccomendations for a first car would be greatly appreciated.

Something cheap and not too new, as a first car you're statistically more likely to crash it.

You're looking at spending lots of money on a newish small car to save a bit on insurance?

I'd rather have something a little older, a little bigger, and a little cheaper, and spend a few £ more on insurance!

IMO you should be looking around for some thing like a Ford Fiesta, maybe an older Mini as too keep the insurance & the running costs down until you build up those NCB
