Need a fuse - but what AMP?

Hi all,

I have an electrical device I need to get a fuse for. I know it takes a 'mini glass' type fuse but I don't know which amp.
Do you think if I got a selection of fuses and started with a small amp working up would be ok?

I don't think that will help as it's not a common device. It is an oxygen sensor.

Cheers for replies guys. Yes it's internal.

I can see now how starting low and working up could cause problems.
I can't find the original fuse though, i'll have another look around and see.

When I removed the original fuse the 'wire' was just not connected. I replaced it with another glass fuse I had (I thought all glass fuses had the same amp). This time the fuse turned black where it seems the metal wire had burned up.
