I'm on a plane a LOT and have some upcoming long-haul flights.

Kit-wise, I have a Dell XPS 14 with Nvidia GT 630M. I *should* be able to get power on the plane, but obviously internet is out.

In addition, space could be something of an issue, although I can generally use a wireless mouse for FPS etc. :D

I've REALLY enjoyed the following games:

Darksiders I and II
Borderlands
Binding of Isaac
Bioshock
Fallout 3
HalfLife series
Torchlight I and II
Skyrim
Portal I and II
Bastion
Path of Exile, until I got bored.

I wanted to like Dark Souls, but found the controls horrible and performance chuggy. Is the second one any better given my hardware limitations?

What say you, gaming gods of OcUK?

EDIT - Goat Simulator looks good for a laugh! I love Carmageddon and in many ways this looks just like it, but with goats... :D

Give something like Deus Ex: Human Revolution a whirl? plenty of side stuff, etc. to keep you occupied and aside from bosses you can mostly adapt the play style to minimise the need for twitch shooting stuff. (The latest version of the game has reworked boss battles IIRC which possibly helps to make it more playable there to).

Flight Simulator, just mirror your actual flight. Everyone would think you are so cool.

You going to look like a nutter trying to play an FPS on a plane with a track pad! :p :D You might get away with portal.

Try Civilization 5 or Tropico 5 that type of game will kill time and is easy to play
with a track pad. ;)

so much win...

bit of a marmite choice, but alice: madness returns would keep you busy for a few hours, can use a controller too so easy to set the laptop up on the food tray and use the controller.

same goes for the assasins creed series, just don't expect any additional uplay features while running

What about a nice Diablo style game? Diablo 2, Titan quest, Torchlight, they can be pretty easy to sink some time into.

You should bang out Mass Effect 1 in one flight. Your laptop will handle it no problem and you can complete the story and some of the side missions in 10h no probs. You should probably get ME2 before you leave as you'll definitely want to play it after completing the first one.

Due to the hardware, I'd go with something like empire earth (RTS) or even better, sins of the solar empire. Either of those games will easily consume the entire flight on a single match and the time will fly by.

O/ I got one, play Microsoft FSX in real time to your actual flight.

Then set a failure for 2 or so hours into flight and see if it happens in real life.

Now that is tension.... lol :p:D
