Welcome to the forums, could you remove the link please as you are not allowed to post competitors.

I'd probably suggest something like this which absolutely decimates the competitors specification and still saves you around £30 but you would have to build it yourself.

Or since I've just read that you don't want to build take a look at OcUK's range of pre-built systems, you can normally ask for some parts to be swapped around and remember to add peripherals.

Semi, he needs a gfx card.

Very good point, I thought it was looking rather cheap. Ok here is the revised specification, I've had to drop to 1gb Ram and get a cheaper motherboard but it is still a much better PC.

//edit and Savill3 thanks for the reminder but just quoting someone elses comments doesn't necessarily help unless you can add something also. :)

sorry for the initial blunder, and cheers for the fast replies.

im not too computer-savvy, was under the impression i'd want AMD over intel, processor-wise?

also;

CP-126-IN Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (CP-126-IN)
£114.99 £114.99

1.86ghz - isnt this pants? my old CPU was @ 2.8 iirc :S

And ya, i suppose i could get off my ass and build the thing if it is that much better. On top of that, i'd be able to stretch a bit more to pick up the better mobo + 2gb ram, if you'd be kind enough to spec that.

again, thanks in advance

The rated ghz doesen't really mean as much as it did in the past. A 1.86 ghz dual core will destroy a 3ghz pentium 4.

When you consider you can overclock the e6300 to over 3ghz pretty easily, the benifits are clear.

Ok, third and final revised specification from me. The motherboard is back to the DS3 and the Ram is back to the Geil 2gb because it is a little cheaper than the Corsair 2gb kits. The system does cost more but by the time you factor in that you wanted 2gb anyway and the speed advantage it offers over the AM2 based system it isn't that much.
