Can anybody help me decide on what GFX card would be best in my machine, i watch HD movies and mainly play Civ 5 (onboard cant handle).

Specs at the moment are :

Zotac H55ITX-A-E (Socket 1156) DDR3 Mini ITX Motherboard

Intel Core i3 540 3.06GHz (Clarkdale) (Socket LGA1156)

OCZ Gold 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Low-Voltage Dual Channel

Lian Li PC-Q11R Aluminium Mini-ITX Cube Case

needs to fit into this case and cost less than £150

any ideas?

Case length is said to be 260mm. Pity as it rules out the MSI Twin Frozr HD5850 which would have been absolutely ideal.

In which case i'd say the choices are the GTX460 1GB or the HD6850.

My Sapphire 6850 is 23.1cm long and fits with 'ease', but it's the PCI-e power connector and cable that cause the headache here as they stick out the back and are not particularly flexible. But as long as you have a modular PSU then that will fit.

Anything above the length of my 6850 will involve a lot of unpleasant 'wiggling' to get it in the Q11. I suspect that 24cm is the maximum card length possible, and even then it would need the power connectors to be on top, and installing something that large would be a nasty experience. :( There is a thread about the Q11 in the SFF section of Hard OCP, which may help with GFX selection.

Finding solid facts about GFX board lengths is not easy and even when you do it's usually in inches! With these cases you need to work in millimetres.

On Overclockers the 470 Twin Frozer has been down to £119+VAT last week. Looks like a steal at that price. Currently gone up in price but may come back down again. You will need to check the length but I thought it would fit my SG05 which I think is shorter than your case.
