I has a Pent D 2.6ghz with 1GB RAM, 256MB 7300LE PCI-Exp, wanting to upgrade to play better games with more effects!

These are the ones i looking at

HIS ATI Radeon X1650 Pro ICEQ Turbo 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (RX1650P-512ICEQT)

OcUK Galaxy GeForce 7900 GS OC SILENT 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

OcUK GeForce 7950 GT SILENT 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

which would be good as im on a slightly tight budget!

OCUk 7900GS looks good to me and has great reviews. what is your actual budget and what is the real (i mean beer purchase) upper limit...

None of them, as this here is far better, although if you can wait a bit, then i would as theres another 8800 GTS coming with 320mb Ram, for around those cards prices. :)

Agreed if you can spend up to £169 then the best card to get is the Connect3D ATI Radeon X1950 XT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail, as it is easily faster than the 7900GS & 7950GT cards you mention above.

Thats quite a range of prices, prompting me to get my list out again ;)

PCI-E Cards,

7600 GS (£69) , 7600 GT (£88) , 7900 GS (£110) , x1950 Pro (£125) , x1950 XT (£170) , 8800 GTS (£290) , 8800 GTX (£375) .

Pick a budget and you can't go wrong. As a general rule, go for the OCuk versions as they tend to be the no-frills/best vfm cards. Then go for the ones with a non-standard cooler. For a few pound more (unless its an 8800, when its quite a few pounds more) you can get better quieter cooling.

When the 8800 '320' comes out, there may be one less red in that list ;)

7600GT OC can be had on ocuk for £88 and that is not t.w.o so u should update your list! :) cos the price ranges are certainly correct otherwise of what u should go for

Cheers dude, well spotted. List updated...

edit: Hang on? The price of a good value mid range nvidia PCI-E graphics card is dropped by over 10% and Gibbo isn't broadcasting this new price with a loud hailer? Somthings afoot here...

... I smell 8 series mid range cards round the corner! :D
