So what's actually wrong with the built-in Windows one?

What addons do you have installed? One of them could be slowing it up.

ok thank you :)

just tried to install Online Armor and it wont install at all....just says " can not start Online Armor "...outpost i used to use that on Vista...but it would never run on windows7

i think i might just re-install windows all together lol

The standard windows one doesn't give you the option to block certain programs from accessing the internets does it?

I need this, so I use Zone Alarm. Seems very lightweight and does the job.

Yes, it does. Advanced Settings lets you specify Inbound and Outbound rules for a particular program or port, and includes predefined rulesets and the ability to create a custom one.

Comodo personal firewall.

This is the one I've using for a long time and until now never had any issues at all , And to be honest I wont use the Windows Firewall ..I used to use Outpost Firewall Pro and Nod32 2.7 Anti Virus on Vista ...but when I started using Win7 couldn't get either of them to run properly ...so went over to CIS

Anyway......re-installed windows today as my system was just getting slower and more non responsive ie nothing would install and ended up not even being able to run Firefox and some other software too ....so i guess there must have been maybe a little virus or something in there somewhere :)
