Ordered the Dell 24" screen and a BFG 8800 GTX OC. I'm now thinking of upgrading my E4300 to the new energy efficiant Q6600 and bagging a second 8800 GTX. Is it worth it? Someone tell me it's a waste of money as I'm at breaking point now!

If you have the money then do it.

SLI can be a pain to get working as it should, expecially in Vista and even if it works might not give you any benefit over a single card in most resolutions and settings.

Why not just keep the single card and see how you like that, if it is a little too slow you can also upgrade to the new Nvidia card next year.

Also a 2nd GTX might mean you have to buy a new 800+W PSU?

Alternate uses for £500, if you really don't want to spend it on a GFX card/CPU:

-Beer (lots)
-Service the car
-Slap up meal for you and the missus, a pressie for her, hotel room for filthy shenanigans
(Hello good books, weeks of gaming peace and quiet, laundry service and the all important "get out of jail free card cos you went drinking with the lads" effort)
-Donate some to charity, after all there are needy kids that need PCs too.
-Save/invest
-Buy a new piece of furniture/object d'art
-Get a cat

There you go, some alternative ways of waxing £500. :D

Got the Enermax 730W which should be ample. I think I'll wait, just bought a new HD which I actually need...

You should be fine with one GTX OC and a Q6600. I have an E6600 + vanilla GTX, and even at stock speeds it's enough to play anything maxed at 1920x1200.
If you're not happy with Crysis performance when it's released, you can always get another GTX, but the 9800GTX isn't too far away either, so it might be worth waiting for that.
