So I'm on my 2nd O2 Wireless box and in my own opinion they just can't cope with what I have set up here, constantly resetting and just generally seem to be struggling when everyone's home and switched on.

So I'm on the lookout for a new router that is reliable and can take at least 4 wired devices and anywhere from 5-10 wireless devices without throwing a fit.

Traffic shaping of some sorts would be great too.

Budget is sub-£100

how many people? For that budget a pfsense itx box might be a good bet. Stick squid on there and have a proxy to cache to improve performance.

It's 5 people but I work from home doing PC repairs and usually have a couple of pc's set up on my workbench copying stuff across the network or running windows update etc.

You want to look at caching the windows updates, this saves loads of time and bandwidth.

Get a good switch, netgear FS or HP do highly recommended unmanaged switches.

I'd second the switch idea. All the wired connections go to the 1Gb Netgear switch at home with a single connection into my router.

The switch will cope far better than your average router with this.
