As per title, could someone please suggest a decent Wireless N Router for my cable modem (i.e. the internet connection on the router needs to be an ethernet type input and not a phone line style)

Been looking on amazon and not sure what to get, many of the products are linksys but they all seem problematic with users complaining about setup isses, signal strength etc!

I just need something with a good signal strength (v. important as I need coverage up and downstairs), and that would be PC/laptop/PS3 and media player friendly.

(and also Windows 7 compatible)

thanks!

When I was on cable* I used an Apple Airport Extreme. Easy to set up, great signal strength (it gets through all the thick brick interior walls of our Victorian house) and has been 100% reliable during it's time. Two issues: You have to use software not a web page to configure it and it is a little pricy. Other advantages are the ability to mount a USB disk for NAS and they are dual band and support 5Ghz 802.11n. It supports Windows including Windows 7 despite being an Apple product! :D

I went through loads of routers before the Airport including Dlink, Netgear, Belkin and Linksys. Other than the Linksys (pre Cisco takeover) the others had issues!

* I still use it to broadcast a 802.11n 5Ghz network and my O2 box downstairs just broadcasts 802.11g works a treat. Network access for 802.11g devices and separate fast network access for 5Ghz 802.11n devices (I have two that support that - not all 802.11n devices support the 5Ghz band)
