Hi guys,
Sorry to add to the numerous 'spec me' posts, but i've been out of the hardware loop for too long and i'm really unsure as to what to get. I'm sticking together a spec for a conroe rig ans i've decided on a X1950 XT-x and a conroe E6600, however, i've got no idea which motherboard or 2gb memory kit to go for.
I'm not going to go nuts with any overclock, and the rig will be cooled by low noise air solutions (e.g. zalman products) as i love my peace and quiet and therefore it is unlikely i will use much beyond stock volts (my current 2.8NW sits perfectly happily at 236FSB, 3.3ghz, stock volts, with a zalman cooler at its lowest setting).
My key requirements are rock solid stability and something which has some future flexibility built in (e.g. a mainboard that will take quad core when that is available) as one of the things i've enjoyed about my current system is that although that it is pretty old, it has been upgradable and still runs things pretty well, but not quite well enougt for my new dell wide screen monitor at 1680x1050 (hence the upgrade!)
Many thanks for all your help
