These were sat behind my filtered faceplate on the master socket.
Top 2 wires are coming from outside, the 2 coming off from the left go into the rear of the faceplate.
I suspect they are just there to extend the wire length? As you`d be hard pushed to get the faceplate connected otherwise.

As you say it's probably just an extension.

Could also be there to change the cable type to be compatible with the connections in the master socket.

Why do you care? It's not wiring you should be messing with.:)

scotchlocks/jelly crimps its just an IDC connection to connect 2 telephone wires together and will be used looking at the picture to make the wires fit onto the socket as they look quite short (the white and orange)

Yea,i thought they`d be something like that as the wires coming into the back of the socket are rather short.
I was just looking for any reason to see why my sync speed is quite a lot less than someone just 10 doors down. :)

Because its ADSL and something as simple as a few metre telephone extension can cause synch to drop :p

usual checks, bell wire, test socket, replacement filter

All checked, last year when i had a bt engineer out i`m sure he said that there`s 2 cabs between me and the exchange.

Just checked the stats down the road and his connection is WAY better than mine :(

I did try a old DG834 netgear out and that gave me a similar upstream attenuation and 2db less NM ,but thats all.
