Need a laptop for 3D design.

I have had a look at the Dells, they came up with this:

2ghz conroe (need)
1 gig ram (good enough)
7900gs gfx (need) - don't want to drop below a 7800 as i want this for gaming as well
17 inch screen (can drop to 15" to save)
120 gig hd (can drop to 80 gig to save)

I tried getting rid of the stuff i don't need on dell, but it won't let me

Coming in at a hefty £1200

Are there any other manufacturers i should be looking at (if it's competition, just name the model of the laptop, i'll do the rest) to save me some money?

I'm mainly looking at cpu power, ram, and gfx and will be using this laptop for applications such as Photoshop, 3DS max and other 3D modelling programs which are heavy on the graphics, ram and cpu.

Don't think your going to get those specs from anywhere else cheaper.

Why does it need to be a laptop, you could get an equally specced desktop for far less, or one for the same price that is far better for 3D work.

Needs to be portable as i will need to carry it around in uni as well as taking it home when i visit for weekends

I have a well specd desktop at the moment as well.

Have you had a look around for a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Xi 1554 ? Could be what your looking for.

Spec is -
C2D 7200
2 Gig o' Ram
17” WUXGA (1900x1200)
Radeon X1900
2x120Gig HDD in Raid
Vista Prem

If you look around you can get it for £1129 inc VAT. I was seriously considering one purely for spec Vs cost. Managed to pick up a top of the line XPS m1710 though for a little more.

I think that Fujitsu is great value for money.
