Hi all.

My sister asked me to find her a son a lappy for under £550.

He only really plays games like mount and blade and C&C RA 3

So need something with a semi good gpu if I can get one for the money she has.

Seen one that is a Toshiba 15.6 Laptop with 4GB RAM 320GB HDD and AMD Dual-Core Processor E-350 APU with AMD Radeon™ HD 6310 Graphics for under £470

If any one can help me out I would be very grateful :D

Thanks.

from a read up on that chip, it looks pretty poor struggling to play most g ames on even the lowest settings, only comparable to intel hd gfx or nvidia ion. probably better off finding something with a 6470 in it, that will at least play most things out there at a playable frame rate on low settings.

Thank you for that :)

I did see one with a 480m gpu for a bit more I will do some reading up on laptop graphics as I have myself only bought desktop stuff.

Cheers.

The HP Pavilion dv6-6102sa is a good choice... just under budget and comes with a Radeon HD6490. I can't see much better for the money in that budget.

However, I would have course push for a desktop if it's an option.

Yeah, the E-350 is more of an Ion + dual Core atom than a full blown i3 + GPU. The Llanos are better.

Dell Outlet, the XPS systems can be had sub £550inc with 540/550ms which would be far better than an ATI 63** series chip :)
My brother got the XPS L702X for £600 with:

i7-2630
6GB RAM
500GB HDD
GT550m
1600x900 screen
9 cell battery

I've had a play around with it, and once the bumph is cleared off/it's clean installed, its a surprisingly good laptop, and as it's Dell 'Certified Refurbished' it's in virtually new condition and has a full warranty. My brothers was having some issues, and Dell have swapped the motherboard and screen onsite with virtually no hassle (which is far better than I had a few years ago with a Dell Alienware).

He's playing Bulletstorm on it atm, at 1600x900 with medium-high settings and getting at least 25-30fps, so I'd say that sort of machine should be more than enough for you :)

A lot of the Dell GT550s are actually BIOS crippled GT555ms (more shaders etc) which makes them surprisingly decent :)

Acer 4755, 5755 series with inbuilt HD graphics 3000/NVIDIA GT 540M with Optimus technology has released gaming and multimedia laptops recently. check once it may suit.

Thank you both I will check out dell and acer models as well :)

@Alexrose1uk.

Mount and blade should be great then on something like the dell xps.

At the moment he has got a laptop but it's not ment for games really and M&B lags a bit even on low settings :(

Cheers.
