So, I thought I had it all figured out. Had my sights set on the Acer 5740G, 15.6" screen, Core I5 430, ATI 5650, 4 GB ram, 500 GB harddrive, 700 notes.

Except....that exact version of the model has been delayed by Acer untill at least end of April it seems, and I was hoping to have had it 2 weeks ago since I'd been waiting since xmas for it come out :S

So...Can anyone recommend a laptop of comparable spec for around 700 notes?

I fear the answer is nay has other companies have yet to bring anything out for that spec at that price range, so it looks like I might be in for the long haul :P

Hey, just remembered my log in details, so here i am, hi everyone!!!
In response to your post, i myself have been looking at that exact same laptop, i mean, the 5650 (1gb DDR3) from what i can find is a medium sort of card, but as the screen isnt full HD should be fine for most gaming. However the laptop for £700 notes also has Blu Ray with full PCM over HDMI making it ideal to connect to a surround amp.

I cannot find anything for £700 with that spec, also you can save £100 and get it with the i3 (no bluetooth), which i think would also be good.

I was looking at the Sony CW (14" with i3 and GeForce 330, which is about the same price, but having had a look at both models (lower specs but same chassis) earlier the Acer is solid, with no flex at all in the chassis, there was a slight flex in the keyboard under pressure, but no different to any other laptop i tested. The only thing that did concern me slightly was pressing the top, it requires less pressure than the sony to make the LCD ripple (if you know what i mean).

Ill be waiting till some stock gets in, or until another company produce something similar (Macbook Pro's maybe just around the corner). MSI seem to have some nice ones out but all expensive.

Jim.
