Evening all.

After the recent death of my 5 year old pc, I've been looking at getting some new parts, but having a bit of difficulty in selecting a board.

I've decided on a Ryzen 5 1600, and I have a GTX 970 which will serve its purpose for now. (at least until we get xmas out the way :D) Also got a 750w psu which works fine and I can pinch 8gb ddr4 Corsair Vengeance from my fella for the time being..

Ideally I want something cheap-ish, but not so cheap that I can't upgrade it in the future, like adding more ram, better GPU and an M.2.

The biggest problem I seem to be having is with sata connectivity. Most of the cheaper boards I've seen have 4, but it seems to suggest you lose functionality of 2 of them when adding an M.2 drive, and I would ideally like to have 3 for my SSD and HDDs.

Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated!

you'd need to suggest a budget, there are a plethora of good boards for ryzen. setting a budget would help narrow down the suggestions

here is too boards but different sizes pending on case, also a psu as with you saying yours is 7 years old might be due a change.
Also what ram speed is the corsair you can pinch ?

Gigabyte boards with nice price reduction along with Asus Hero. B350 Gaming 3 is one of the bets budget boards and one of the recommend budget boards along with strix and Pro 4.
Aorus 5 has nice discount, solid VRMs and looks stunning
Gigabte/Aorus has the advantage of strong Rep presence on the forum as well as only company with mobo rma in uk
Hero is one of the best Ryzen boards with very nice BIOS and ocuk has better RMA procedure with asus that mimics distributors RMA
