yep, a utility called 'Asus update' - software was on the utilities disk

The ASUS Windows Update utility is well known for killing boards.

RMA is the most likely option.

Yep as Cob says its prolly dead.

RMA time and never update BIOS through windows on Asus boards.

How/where do I RMA it - the O/C support page says it doesn't support Asus products:

Looks like Asus wasn't such a good choice then

Just been googling and found another guy with same problem. He says Asus tech support told him there was a 10-15% chance of this happening and it's not fixable

If bios chips were detachable, the manufacturer could just post you a new one and save themselves, the retailer and end-user a lot of hassle and money having to replace boards all the time.

Yip they've cut their own throats to save a couple of pence per board.

And have a search through this forum. A few people have had the same problem. It should give you an idea of how to deal with the RMA.
