my system is 2 years old bought from ocUk (1.8Ghz amd, 6800GS nvidia, 2GB 3200, 80GB 7200rpm Sata). i need a new one. cant upgrade it due to old slot motherboard. also motherboard has failed recently. not interested in building my own. been out the hardware game for 2 years, dont know anything.

i have £2,000 to spend. i have a monitor (21 inch samsung LCD that seems to be failing also run 16 hours a day for 4 years so might need one appreciate reccomendations on that not a widescreen), keyboard and mouse and speakers.

im interested to hear opinions on what components i should go for. i will be using it for gaming. i want an intel chip this time (is that advised?) id like it to be a -quiet system this is important- as ive developed tinitus from this one. id like it to last quite a while so i dont think overclocking would suit me i dont know.

so spec me whatever you think is ideal, any other advice on whats good is appreciated. any news i need to know since 2 years ago. thanks. im confused about todays components and features etc

I'd agree with HP, but I'd stump up the extra cash and get 4Gigs of Ram (but you'll only see about 3.25Gig.).

Grab the Wolfdale chip while you can!

Just for fun I decided to do a spec to the stated budget:

What about one of the OcUK's custom built Ultima 8800 QUAD SLI, pre overclocked by OcUK. Just select the bits and pieces that you want, and they'll build, overclock, install OS and deliever.
