Hey guys,

looking to jump on the quad core 6600 G0 band wagon and such im looking for a new hi-end motherboard that will support over clocking, water blocks and SLI (8800's)

Been looking at the evga black pearl but reckon i can source water cooling cheaper by finding the parts myself plus the fact they use alu, and not copper waterblocks as standard on that board.

So you guys are the experts, which board do i need?

ps. id prefer ASUS as never had a problem with them, but open to suggestions.

PPS needs to be able to support 4gb ram 4x1gb or 2x2gb ;)

cheers for your help all.

cheers AssBaby,

if i did want to cool chipsets etc like on the black pearl would the difference in price between striker and the pearl be offset buying water blocks or am i better off with the black pear as an inclusive package for £350+?

Thank you assbaby,

I know very little about water cooling and the black pear was on my hit list as it had everything on it already, however, as i have been reading more and more into watercooling im finding out the best possible solution is a custom one, to which im going to have to pay somebody to put it all together for me, i really dont fancy trying it myself.

As for the memory selection, i currently have 2gigs of the corsair 8500c5 the version without the spikes on it, however that was fairly expensive when it came out, im not sure if you can even get it any more? is their any reason why you suggested the geil memory, i was always under the impression the more you spent on ram the better the performance?

thanks for your advice so far!

Sunburn.

hey guys thanks for all your help, in the end i went for the evga 680i, time i tested it they had released the 780i due to the recent change in penryn support, to my horro the 680i was DOA and i have now been told by the supplier that they have no more in stock so a blessing indiguise maybe... problem is, i really lost faith in the 680i and it make more sense to go for the 780i chipset, can any one recommend a good 780i board for the above configuation (see first post) Time is pressing me on this build now and need a board that wont be DOA or need RMA'ing

look forward to your help in advance.

Sunburn
