Ok background i currently use my pc attached to a rather large tv at the end of my bed but after moving i have a couple of rooms spare so i'm going back to the pc room idea so i've ordered a desk and chair etc but then realised i actually don't have a monitor anymore. I mainly game but also watch content and i'm nowhere near competitive in any game i play since cs about a decade ago. My pc is aging (Haswell i7 with a 970 but this will be upgraded to fit the whole gaming idea) i used to game on eyefinity back when i gamed properly.
So i really don't want to spend silly money but 500 wouldn't be out of the price range what's the happy middle ground for the price range (remember i will be upgrading my pc soon)

i actually had a 4k 60hz monitor back when they started to come out (can't remember the model) i'd love a 4k over 60hz display but they are still in the dreamland for regular users i assume. It was a 27 inch (or so) asus panel if i remember rightly..... the lack of memory on the 970 killed it

yeah but why?
i could also pick a monitor out of the stack.... i just want to know why i should choose said monitor over multiple others
