Nearly all montiors these days have a native res of 1080p, or thereabouts, and any other res, such as 720p or even 1366x768 just doesnt look right, slightly fuzzy or even stretched...

I prefer my screen to have a 720p res due to having poor eyesight, and although I know you can increase the font size in W7 to 150%, this doesnt work all the time with applications... I also know you can get app to magnify or zoom in certain parts of the desktop, but I need the whole desktop on view!

I had an expensive NEC 21" widescreen monitor that displayed crisp clear text regardless of resolution, it was an expensive monitor at the time, but that maybe why... These cheap monitors seem to be awful at displaying anything other than native res....

720p with slightly larger font size is ideal, but most monitors dont seem to be able to display this very well...

Any suggestions??

Maybe go for a large 1080p screen instead?

My Samsung is 27inch and "only" 1080p, thus it has relatively large text.

You'll have more choice at 1080p, and if you go larger you won't reduce the pixel and thus text size!

Agreed if it is only the desktop/font size etc that concerns you just get a screen with a low dpi, either 22" @ 1680x1050 or 27" @ 1920x1080 should be fine.
If you look for a screen with lower resolution it just ends up being small so you are no better off.

Just annoys me that I cant simply use my 24" screen on 1280x720... it just looks fuzzy!

Why bother having all the resolutions to chose from if you simply cant use them!!!

Cheers for the advice!

The reason they have such resolutions other than native is because some applications may not be capable of running in the native resolution (for example, some older games).

If you want flexibility to run at different resolutions without a distorted image, then the best option is probably a CRT.

One option you could go for is to get a 2560x1440 panel. This shouldn't look blurred or distored at 1280x720 because it will be exactly 4 screen pixels to 1 display pixel. The reason a 1080p screen will look messed up is because you can't expand the image across an even number of pixels.
