need a new 1155 mobo, help please

not upgraded my pc since about 2011. seems asif my mobo is on its way out, usb ports are starting to fail randomly then work fine again for a day then some work and some dont.
i have an asrok extreme 4 gen 3 z68 mobo at the min with a i5 2500k. can any one reccomend a good replacement? i dont want to have to replace my processor really. are 1150 sockets backwards compatable? any help is great thanks

1150 is not backwards compatible and 1155 boards aren't stocked much anymore.

Best bet is looking second hand.

Yeah my Gene-Z has just died (I think) and so have had to source a 2nd hand one to enable me to not reload the OS. Not cheap though as I could have got the Maximus VI Extreme board cheaper than my Maximus IV Gene-z

mines also looking dodgy. but the 2500k is a great cpu. would have to have to upgrade.
