Hi

My current graphics card has given up so i'm looking for something to replace it with, Its a ATI 9800GT so pretty old. I've looked at some of the new cards and its all very confusing, I imagine all of them are better than I have been using so any advice is appreciated.

Rest of the system is Q8300, 4GB RAM (not sure on PSU but can check if needed. Looking to spend around £200.

Thanks for your help :-)

You're gonna notice a huge performance boost compared to your old card! There are loads of options at the moment for £200ish.

The latest cards are these:

AMD 6870 - £190
Nvidia 560 - £200
AMD 6950 - £240

There are some of last years cards still on sale like the 470 and 5870 that come in at around £200, but they're so similar to the new cards.

I just picked up an AMD 5850 for £125 (OC offer) and it's plenty powerful enough at 1920x1200.

Check out some reviews of the GTX 560 (released today) as they'll have benchmarks for all of these cards on.

The HD6950 1GB is also being released at a similar price point as the GTX560TI and AMD has introduced price cuts for the HD6870 1GB and HD6950 2GB.

The HD5850 1GB however at £125 is a very good offer and is not that far behind the newer £200 cards.

Thank you that'd great!

I sometimes play FSX so would probably sway towards Nvidia as I've read it runs better on these cards!

yeah, the 460 is still a very ample card to play on and with the new 560 out you'll see price drops...especially in the MM
