I've got Mordaunt short genie 5.1 speaker package, but the centre speaker's given up the ghost so to speak. I was going to just buy the exact same model, but though i give you guys a wave incase you guys can think of anything better as i am now going to slowly replace all the speakers (except the sub, because its perfect imo). Tis for my bedroom and the price bracket will be £150 - £250.

Was always under the impression that you want to keep your centre speakers the same as your two fronts in a surround sound set-up, otherwise the persons voice would sound different and stupid as it switched channels. Therefore it probably depends on how quickly you would be replacing the other speakers

If your speaker is damaged was it the amplifer at fault? Running into clipping?
Yeah need to match, although a non matching , higher quality speakers will sound better, albeit not matching. So panning won't be quite as good. Ie if you spend £300 on a centre leaving the other speakers as it is.

MS have a range of centre speakers perhaps just buy a MS center? If you're going to use a larger speaker make sure you amp is up to it.
