I've been using a wired Xbox 360 controller, which unfortunetly due to too much Dark souls, has started to give up the ghost.

I was going to pick up another wired 360, but was wondering is the Xbox One controller was worth the extra money?

You could pick up an Xbox One controller for like £40. No brainer really, it's a better controller than the 360 imo.

You not thought about getting a Steam Controller? It takes a few hours getting used to but works really well. Having an extra set of trigger buttons helps too compared to the XB pad. I have my extra 2 triggers mapped to estus/kick.

Check the vid here by some Valve dude playing DS3 with one. Take note of the quick menu at 1:00ish:

Be aware though that reshade/sweetfx breaks steam controller support in DS3. The steam controller needs steam overlay enabled to run. Reshade/sweetfx breaks steam overlay which makes your controller mapping be all messed up.

If you can hold off until August the controller for the new Xbox one slim will do wireless without the need for extra dongles. May also drop the price of the current controller if that doesn't interest you.

Xbox One Controller hands down.

Pretty much supported by all Games unlike the Steam Controller.

You can get them quite cheap second hand if you don't mind using a cable.

If you are open to going wireless I would recommend picking up the Xbox One Windows Wireless dongle and obviously the wireless version of the controller as the pair work flawlessly.

And how is it going to do that? not every PC has wifi or bluetooth and i sure can't think of any other ways to get it to work without a dongle

I'm guessing with wifi perhaps.

You can get aftermarket dongles for the Xbox One off of the Bay for next to nothing. Or you can just connect a USB cable to your PC with one of the current Xbox One controllers and its all good.

unless you have the xbox in the same room and constantly have to pair them to each other, also on my early one windows 10 don't recognise the included extension cable it just sees it as a failed USB device. No idea why works fine in windows 7 (tried and tested)

There is a few bugs in certain games too, if you let the controller turn off in the new hitman then knock the mouse and turn the controller back on you can't do anything. There was a fix from Windows update coming for it but not tried it in a while.

The wireless one can be plugged in via USB to make it wired, unlike the 360 pad, so that's worth considering for anyone else looking at this. I have the lunar white xbone pad and am a big fan.

Controller turned up today today, but I've noticed that the left trigger feels a bit clunky and is making a noise, not actually tried it out.

Is there anything I can do or should I just return it?
